Overview
You can now share an engagement (also called a matter or folder, depending on how your firm has set it up) with colleagues on your Law Cyborg account. Everyone you share with sees the same queries, responses, and sources — so the team can review your work, continue a line of questioning, or simply stay across what's been asked, without re-running prompts or emailing exports around.
Sharing is restricted to users on the same account. If you don't have any colleagues set up yet, an Owner or Admin can add them from My Team.
Where to find your matters
Click the clock icon (History) on the left-hand sidebar.
Switch to the Engagements tab. You'll see every folder you've created or had shared with you.
Sharing a matter
You can share a matter from two places — the matter list or inside the matter itself.
From the Engagements list
Open the History panel and go to Engagements.
Click the three-dot menu on the right of the matter you want to share.
Choose Share Engagement.
From inside a folder
Open the matter from the Engagement tab.
Click Share in the top right of the matter panel.
Selecting colleagues
In the Share Matter dialog, use the Search members box to find colleagues by name or email.
Tick everyone you want to add. You can't remove yourself.
Click Share Matter to confirm. The matter immediately appears in those colleagues' Engagements tab.
Tip: Everyone added to a matter has the same level of access — they can view, ask new questions, edit the matter, add other colleagues, and remove collaborators. There are no separate owner/viewer roles.
Working in a shared matter
Once a matter is shared, everyone with access can:
Read every query, response, and source in the matter.
Ask new questions inside the matter — answers are saved to the matter automatically.
Continue an existing conversation as a follow-up.
See which colleague asked each question, so you can follow the research thread.
Download any conversation as a PDF or Word document, just like an individual conversation.
Changing access
To add more colleagues, remove someone, or check who currently has access:
Open the matter (or click the three-dot menu on the matter list).
Choose Share Folder / Share.
Tick to add, or untick to remove a colleague, then save.
Important: When a colleague is removed, they lose access to the matter and every query inside it — including questions they originally asked. Access is revoked immediately. At least one collaborator must always remain on a matter.
Merging matters
If you've been doing related research in two separate matters, you can merge them into one so the team has a single source of truth.
Open the matter you want to keep (the destination).
Click Merge in the top right of the matter panel.
Tick the matters whose queries you want to move into this one.
Click Merge Matters.
All queries from the selected matters are moved into the destination matter and inherit its collaborator list. If that changes who can see those queries, Law Cyborg will show a confirmation prompt before going ahead.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Who can I share a matter with?
A: Anyone on the same Law Cyborg account. You can't share matters outside your firm in this release.
Q: Does sharing cost extra?
A: No. Sharing is included on all paid Law Cyborg subscriptions. Each person you share with needs to already have an active seat on your account.
Q: Can I make someone a view-only collaborator?
A: Not in this release. Every collaborator on a matter has full access to view, edit, and manage who else is on it. If you need stricter controls, keep the matter to yourself and download specific conversations to share.
Q: Two of us have a matter with the same name. Will they clash?
A: No. Matter names are unique per person, not per firm — so two colleagues can each have a matter called "Smith File 25" without affecting each other.
Q: What happens if the person who created a matter is removed?
A: Ownership transfers automatically to the longest-standing remaining collaborator. The matter stays exactly as it was. The removed person loses access immediately.
Q: Can I undo a share?
A: Yes — just open the share dialog and untick the colleague to remove their access. Their access ends straight away.
Q: Does a shared matter show up in my colleague's Chat History too?
A: Each colleague's individual chat history is still private. Shared matters appear in the Folders tab of the History panel for everyone with access — that's where collaborative work lives.
Troubleshooting
I can't see anyone in the "Search members" list
You may be the only user on your account, or your colleagues haven't been invited yet. Ask your Owner or Admin to add them from My Team.
A matter someone shared with me hasn't appeared
Refresh your browser, then check the Folders tab. If it's still missing, ask the colleague to confirm they ticked your name in the Share Matter dialog and clicked Share Matter.
