Overview

This page lists the current conversation limits in Law Cyborg and how to work within them for best results. We are actively updating parts of the platform, so the document-related limits section will be refreshed soon.

Chat & conversation limits

  • Max prompt length: Up to 10,000 words (including line breaks) per message.

  • Follow-up questions per conversation: Up to 9 follow-ups (10 total messages including your first question).

  • Starting a new conversation: If you reach the follow-up limit or notice quality degradation in a long thread, start a new conversation. You can click Edit on your last question to ask the AI to summarise the earlier chat, then paste that summary into your first message in the new conversation.

  • Unlimited questions overall: There’s no set monthly cap on how many questions you can ask. If usage breaches our terms (e.g., botting or other abuse), we may limit access or apply charges (see below).

Important note on abuse

Your plan includes unlimited tokens for normal use. Tokens used via botting or other abuse may be charged to the subscriber at $0.09 + GST per 1,000 tokens, as outlined in our terms.

Document features

Coming soon: This section is being updated to reflect upcoming changes to document upload and analysis features.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many questions can I ask a month? Does it matter what plan I have?

A: There is no limit to the number of questions you can ask each month, regardless of which plan you are using. Unless you breach our fair-use policy.

Q: When should I start a new chat?

A: It's best to start a new chat whenever your questions move to a different topic. Each chat works a bit like a single "thread" of thought - the AI remembers what has been said in the chat so far whenever you ask a follow up question, but too much back-and-forth across multiple topics can make it lose focus over time.

If you notice the answers getting off track or noticeably lower in quality, or you're switching subjects, start a new chat. You can always ask the AI to summarise your current conversation and then paste that summary into the new chat if you want to carry over that context.

Q: What counts as "abuse" or "botting" under the usage policy?

A: In normal use, you'll never hit any limits, and we've never restricted anyone's access. "Abuse" refers to automated or extremely high-volume use that isn't possible for one person, such as account sharing or. bots sending thousands of questions per day.

Q: Does editing a question I've previously asked count towards the 10 message limit per conversation?

A: If your account is deleted, your chat history is deleted with it.

Q: Can I share a conversation with a colleague?

A: Yes—download it as a PDF or a Word Document and email or share the file. They'll be able to read it and click all the citation links under the References section.

Q: Does chat history work on mobile?

A: Yes, chat history works across devices, including on mobile.
