Understanding User Roles & Permissions
Who this is for: Owners, Admins, and anyone managing users
Overview
Law Cyborg uses three permission levels — Owner, Admin, and User — so you can control who can manage billing, organisation settings, and licenses versus who simply uses the research tools. Understanding these roles helps you set up your team correctly before inviting members.
The three permission levels
Role | Who | What they can do |
|---|---|---|
Owner | Original account creator (one per organisation) | Full control including billing, subscriptions, and organisation‑wide settings |
Admin | Designated by Owner | Manage users and licenses; cannot change billing or organisation‑wide settings |
User | Standard team member | Use Law Cyborg tools according to assigned plan and practice areas |
Owner
Manage billing, payment methods, invoices, and subscriptions
Purchase and assign licences and practice areas
Access and change organisation‑wide settings such as Chat History, Hide Answer Feedback, tool access, and more
Invite/remove users; promote/demote Admins; transfer ownership
Admin
Invite and manage users
Assign existing licences and practice areas
Cannot access billing or organisation‑wide settings
User
Use assigned research tools and practice areas
Manage their own profile and password
Enable their own two‑factor authentication (2FA)
